Constellation Cancellation Panel Discussion

The status of NASA’s Constellation program has been in question since it was first proposed in 2004.  In the last year or two, its status had become even more questionable.  The recent Augustine Commission basically suggested that the US Government had two choices: increase NASA’s budget or reduce its plans—especially human spaceflight plans.  The recent US budget included the new NASA busget.  The NASA Administrator, Chuck Bolden Said on February 1, 2010: “So this budget cancels the Constellation Program.”

David Whalen (background), Michael Gaffey (budget analysis), and Pablo de León (human spaceflight) of the Space Studies Department at UND will discuss this shocking—but not surprising—announcement and its implications.  This will be followed by Q&A and general discussion.  All are welcome to attend.

When: Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 4:00 PM Central
Where: Ryan Hall, Room 111

This discussion is open to distance ed students as a live webcast and will also be archived for later access.  Students may access the live webcast in one of three ways as outlined here.
